Mons Dario Edoardo Viganò / Prefect of the Vatican Secretariat for Communication

Since June 27, 2015 Dario Edoardo Viganò (born in Rio de Janeiro on June 27, 1962) is Prefect of the Vatican Secretariat of the Communication. He was Director of the Vatican Television Center – CTV from January 22, 2013 to December 21, 2015.
Professor of Theology of communications at the Pontifical Lateran University, he was Dean of the Pastoral Institute “Redemptor hominis” from 2006 to 2012 and Director of the Lateran Centre for High Studies – CLAS. He leads with Emilio Carelli the Master in “Digital Journalism”, organized by CLAS – Pontifical Lateran University (from 2013).
Professor of Languages and Audiovisual Markets in the Department of Political Sciences of the University LUISS “Guido Carli” in Rome (2005-2015), he is a member of the Steering Committee of the Research Centre for Media and Communication Studies (CMCS) “Massimo Baldini” (now Centre for Media and Democratic Innovations “Massimo Baldini”).
President of the Fondazione Ente dello Spettacolo – FEdS and Director of “Rivista del Cinematografo” from 2004 to 2013, in the same years he was also Chairman of the National Film Evaluation Commission of the Italian Bishops Conference – CEI. From 2013 he is a member of the FEdS Board of Directors with delegation for Publishing.
Board member of the Experimental Centre of Cinematography – CSC from 2008 to 2012, with responsibility for the National Film Archive and Publishing Industry, he was also Member of the Subcommittee for the Recognition of Cultural Interest (Feature film section) of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities (2006-2011).
Corresponding Member since 2010 of the Pontificia Academia Theologica, he is the author of numerous studies devoted to the analysis of the relationship between the media and the Catholic world, with particular attention to the movies.
