Father Stephen Fichter served as seminary formator, vice rector, and chief financial officer while living in Europe in the 1990s. Back in the US after his ordination in 2000, he received a Masters degree in Social Work from Fordham and a Masters and a Doctorate in Sociology from Rutgers. As parochial vicar at Saint Gabriel Parish, he founded the FOCUS youth group. In 2008, as pastor of Sacred Heart in Haworth, he founded the VITA youth group. Stephen, a research associate at the Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate (CARA) at Georgetown, has authored two books. His third book covering American Catholic Bishops is due in 2018. Stephen, who has taught Ministry of Leadership at Seton Hall, is currently a visiting scholar at Fordham.
