Church Historian and Canonist. From 1990 to 1998 service as defender of the bond at the tribunal of the Archdiocese of Cologne. Since 1998 member of the Faculty of Catholic Theology, Ruhr-University Bochum. Research focus is on the reception history of the Second Vatican Council, with special emphasis on structures of participation and church organization on the diocesan level. Since 2014 associate researcher of the Project CrossingOver, directed by Prof. Dr. Wilhelm Damberg, Chair of Medieval and Modern Church History. The current research project is focused on transnational and comparative studies on episcopal leadership and diocesan administration in the United States and Germany.
